Google is set to introduce voice integration in Gmail, named “Gmail Live,” allowing users to interact with their inbox using voice commands. This feature was announced at Google’s I/O developer conference. Users can query their inbox with questions like “What’s my flight’s gate number?” Gmail Live will initially be available this summer for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers and will also be previewed for Google Workspace business customers.
In addition, Google is expanding its AI Inbox, initially launched for Google AI Ultra subscribers, to include new features and will be accessible to Google AI Pro and Plus subscribers. New functionalities include personalized draft replies, quick access to Google Drive files, and improved task management. Google starts rolling out these features today, prioritizing user privacy and providing transparency on data usage.
Google’s leader in this initiative, Blake Barnes, highlights the emphasis on privacy, ensuring data isn’t utilized for training purposes, and building trust in AI integration.
