Google is returning to the smart glasses market. At Google I/O, the company revealed a new collaboration with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster to create AI-powered glasses. These devices, compatible with Android and iOS, were designed with Samsung and will be released later this year. Named “audio glasses,” they allow users to issue voice commands to access apps and services, including Gemini. A demonstration showed a user ordering coffee just by speaking to the glasses. Google previously released Google Glass, which led to the term “glassholes.” However, the smart glasses industry has evolved, with major players like Meta investing alongside startups.
