Google’s potential edge in developing personal AI agents could be its access to your emails.

At the Google I/O developer conference, the company introduced Gemini Spark, a new personal assistant created with Gemini base models and Google Antigravity’s technology.

Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai referred to Spark as a progression of digital assistants, designed to manage extensive tasks with minimal input.

“Your personal AI agent helps you manage your digital activities, operating seamlessly without needing a laptop open,” Pichai stated during a product briefing.

Spark’s strength lies in its integration with Google’s ecosystem, including Gmail, Google Docs, and more, providing ready-to-use connections without additional setup.

Users can communicate with Spark via a special Gmail account, and the agent can directly use Chrome. On mobile, Spark’s progress is trackable with the Android Halo system.

“Need to draft an email? Spark gathers information from your emails and documents to create a draft for you,” explained Josh Woodward, VP of the Gemini App and AI Studio. “Small businesses find Spark useful for monitoring emails and addressing customer queries promptly.”

Spark is compatible with numerous services through MCP, with more integrations expected soon.

Currently in testing, Spark will be offered to Google AI Ultra subscribers next week.
