Spotify Introduces AI-Driven Q&A and Briefing Tools for Podcasts

2 Min Read

Spotify aims to expand beyond being just a platform for consuming podcasts by introducing a new AI-driven personal podcast feature. This feature will allow users to generate podcasts based on their ideas or custom prompts. Recently, Spotify launched a GitHub-based command-line tool for Claude Code and Codex, enabling users to create podcasts and save them to their Spotify library. Soon, users will be able to generate podcasts directly within the Spotify app, scheduling them for daily or weekly updates on topics of interest or creating one-off episodes for specific inquiries.

Users can request content like “Share my daily city updates, and tell me about local concerts from artists I love,” or “Help me understand economics in five minutes,” to generate personalized podcasts. They can also add links, PDFs, text, and choose a custom voice for podcasts, inspired by NotebookLM and other AI tools.

Additionally, Spotify unveiled a desktop app called Studio by Spotify Labs, connecting with users’ email and calendar to craft personalized briefings. An AI-powered Q&A feature for Premium mobile users in the U.S., Sweden, and Ireland has also been launched, allowing users to ask questions about the podcast episode they are listening to or seek recommendations on specific topics. In line with increased engagement, Spotify reported a 50% year-on-year increase in video podcast streaming, urging more user interaction with its app.

Spotify is enhancing tools for podcast creators, such as a creator sponsorship tool for managing brand partnerships and a subscription feature for exclusive content and experiences, similar to offerings from social platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat.
