Amazon’s ultrafast 30-minute deliveries expand to more cities

The rapid delivery service has expanded to include Atlanta and Dallas-Fort Worth, joining Seattle and Philadelphia. After a limited trial in Seattle and Philadelphia that began last December, Amazon Now is now officially accessible to millions of Amazon customers across the US. The 30-minute delivery service, already available in Seattle and Philadelphia, has been extended to Atlanta and Dallas-Fort Worth, with further expansion planned for cities such as Austin, Houston, Minneapolis, Orlando, Phoenix, Denver, and Oklahoma City.

Currently, thousands of items qualify for 30-minute delivery, including fresh milk and produce, over-the-counter medicines, household essentials like laundry detergent, and small electronics like AirPods and HDMI cables. In cities served by this option, shoppers will notice a “30-Minute Delivery” feature on Amazon’s homepage and mobile app, with eligible items marked as available through Amazon Now in search results.

For Amazon Prime members paying $14.99/month or $139/year, Amazon Now deliveries cost $3.99 per order, while the charge is $13.99 for non-members. Orders under $15 incur an additional fee of $1.99 for Prime members, or $3.99 for others.

The service expansion aims to bolster Amazon’s competition against companies like DoorDash and Instacart. Since 2014, Amazon has offered same-day one or two-hour deliveries. Initially part of the mobile app, the service expanded to a dedicated Prime Now website before being integrated into the main Amazon site in 2021. In October 2024, Amazon ceased its Amazon Today service, which facilitated same-day deliveries from malls and standalone brick-and-mortar stores.
