Daily Show’s Ronny Chieng Breaks Down Trump’s $1.8 Billion Slush Fund

On Monday, Donald Trump’s Department of Justice gave the U.S. president a $1.8 billion fund, financed by taxpayers, which might be used to compensate Trump’s allies, including those prosecuted for the January 6 attack on the Capitol. The “Anti-Weaponisation Fund” was created by the DoJ in exchange for the Trump family dropping their $10 billion lawsuit against Trump’s IRS for disclosing their tax returns.

Critics have labeled this as Trump’s “slush fund,” including late show hosts like Stephen Colbert and The Daily Show’s Ronny Chieng, who explained the situation visually. “Donald Trump, the man, is suing the IRS, led by Donald Trump, the president, which then settled with the Justice Department, headed by Donald Trump, to create a slush fund controlled by Donald Trump.”

Chieng added, “This guy’s playing 5D Chess with corruption here,” and joked about Trump “building the ballroom just so he can do a slip and fall.”
