DJI Unveils Osmo Pocket 4: Upgraded Gimbal Camera with a Major Downside

DJI has revealed the Osmo Pocket 4, the latest model of its well-known handheld gimbal camera. Unfortunately, a U.S. release for the Osmo Pocket 4 is still pending due to regulatory challenges.

Since its debut in 2023, DJI’s Osmo Pocket 3 has become a favorite among content creators. The Osmo Pocket 4 introduces several new features to the 4K camera, including dedicated zoom and customizable buttons available when the 2-inch touchscreen is flipped to landscape mode.

On the hardware front, the camera includes a 1-inch CMOS sensor with 14 stops of dynamic range, enhancing low-light performance. It can shoot at 16:9 4K at 60fps and also supports 4K slow-motion video at 240fps, a capability that its predecessor only achieved at 1080p.

DJI claims the Pocket 4 can operate for up to four hours at 1080p 24fps and comes with 107GB of built-in storage. This is advantageous given the rising cost of memory cards, as the Pocket 3 relies solely on SD cards.

Although confirmed for release in other regions soon, the Osmo Pocket 4’s U.S. launch remains uncertain as DJI awaits FCC approval. High-profile tensions between the U.S. and DJI add complexity to its availability.

In contrast, Australians can start pre-ordering the Osmo Pocket 4 now, with shipping beginning April 22. The Standard Combo, priced at $AU769, includes a handle, pouch, gimbal clamp, and wrist strap, while the $AU959 Creator Combo adds extras like a wide-angle lens, fill light, and a DJI Mic 3 transmitter.
