Now until June 28th, the analog-simulating digital camera is available for $549.99.
Fujifilm’s X Half digital camera isn’t intended to replace your main camera, even though its original price of $850 might suggest otherwise. The company recently lowered the MSRP to $649.99, and is now offering an additional $100 discount through June 28th, bringing the price down to around $549 at Amazon, B&H Photo, and Best Buy. Adorama is also offering the same discount and includes a free accessory pack with a 64GB SanDisk SD card and a camera case.
The X Half differs from most digital cameras. It’s a minimalist shooter designed to mimic the experience of a half-frame film camera, capable of capturing 18-megapixel stills with various styling options. Features include film simulations, filters, grain, and digital diptychs, with date stamping available. It’s a fun camera but lacks features commonly found in modern cameras, such as RAW image capability, a hot shoe for accessories, and an electronic viewfinder.
In our previous hands-on review, former Verge supervising producer Vjeran Pavic described the X Half as whimsical and refreshing. Its vertical 1-inch sensor and fixed 32mm equivalent f/2.8 lens can produce great images. Designed for easy use, the compact camera encourages “scrappy, quick photos,” a quality appreciated by both Pavic and our own Antonio Di Bennedeto, despite initial reservations about the price.
