Google Maps to Receive Significant AI Enhancement

2 Min Read

Google has introduced new generative AI features for its mapping and geospatial apps, tailored for enterprise users. Unveiled at Cloud Next in Las Vegas, these enhancements equip Google’s mapping platform with advanced visual and data analytics capabilities.

A feature called Maps Imagery Grounding lets enterprise users create realistic scenes in Google Street View using generative AI to visualize projects such as movie sets or construction sites. Users input prompts into Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform to generate these scenes in Street View, requiring proper settings within Google Maps Imagery.

“You can storyboard your creative vision with precise images in seconds—and even animate scenes with Veo,” the company stated.

Additionally, Google is offering expanded data analysis methods using satellite imagery in Google Earth. The Aerial and Satellite Insights feature enables users to analyze imagery within Google Cloud’s BigQuery, significantly reducing workload from weeks to minutes.

Google is also launching two new Earth AI Imagery models for geospatial analysis. These AI systems can identify objects like bridges, roads, and power lines in imagery. Previously, creating such AI systems required months of development, but now businesses can skip this extensive process when developing products.

These announcements are part of Google’s expansion into enterprise geospatial AI. Their Earth AI platform is already in use by partners like Airbus and Boston Children’s Hospital for purposes such as environmental monitoring and disaster response.

“These AI updates open up new opportunities for businesses, data analysts, and urban planners,” Google commented.
