Google Photos Introduces New Touch-Up Tools for Fast Fixes

1 Min Read

Google Photos’ image editor is introducing new touch-up features, allowing users to make fine edits and adjustments, announced Google on Monday. These tools can be used to remove blemishes, enhance skin texture, brighten eyes, whiten teeth, and more.

To access these touch-up tools, users should select a face in a photo and pick the desired tool: heal, smooth, under eyes, irises, teeth, eyebrows, or lips. Users can then adjust the effect’s intensity.

The new tools are being gradually introduced worldwide in the Google Photos app on Android devices with a minimum of 4 GB RAM and Android 9.0 or higher.

By offering these touch-up tools, Google aims to keep users within Google Photos for editing rather than turning to third-party apps.

However, it is important to note that research has indicated that frequent photo retouching can be detrimental, potentially causing negative feelings, low self-esteem, or body image concerns.
