Instagram Launches New Snapchat Clone

1 Min Read

The Instants app has been introduced, enabling users to share ephemeral, unedited photos and videos with friends. Released in Italy and Spain, Instants allows sending disappearing photos viewable once in 24 hours. Available on iOS and Android, there’s no announcement about a desktop version or release in other regions. It resembles the “Shots” feature in Instagram messages and is intended to provide a low-pressure way to connect with friends. Users can send photos and videos to Instagram followers and close friends, with limited editing capabilities, promoting authenticity with its “real life, real quick” tagline. Similar to Snapchat and BeReal, Instants remains linked to Instagram accounts, but users can choose where to share and view the disappearing photos. Instagram is exploring variations of Instants to understand user preferences. Despite Snapchat and BeReal not being as prominent as before, Meta sees potential in this app to compete with them.
