A cryptic Instagram post sparked curiosity about Bumble’s future features. On May 5, the dating app Bumble shared a mysterious message on Instagram: “Dear swiping, it’s over. – Bumble.” This post, coinciding with Bumble’s Q1 2026 earnings report, led to speculation and confusion among users, as revenue decreased by 14.1 percent compared to Q1 2025, and paying users dropped by 21.1 percent.

Despite a rise in total average revenue per paying user and net earnings, Bumble plans to experiment with new approaches as part of their Bumble 2.0 initiative. Bumble is reimagining itself, including an AI-powered experience called Dates, a new tech stack for its backend, and innovating product and technology offerings. Furthermore, Bumble is expanding its involvement in offline dating events, with plans to host gatherings in the U.S. and Europe.

The mysterious post raises the question: Is Bumble eliminating the swipe feature that has been critical to its app since inception? Bumble spokesperson clarified that they are committed to bringing members together in real life through intentional connection methods on Bumble.

Whether Bumble’s shift in strategy will meet the expectations of its users is yet to be seen. As many dating app users express frustration with current offerings, Bumble’s new direction could offer a fresh perspective in the dating app landscape.
