The World ID app, utilizing orb technology, can now verify profiles on Tinder, Zoom calls, and Docusign documents.
Tinder users who prove their authenticity by visiting an identity-verifying orb can earn five free boosts in the app. World, co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, began testing Tinder verification through facial scanning orbs in Japan last year and is now expanding to select markets, including Japan and the US.
To confirm they are not bots or AI agents, users must visit a World orb. According to World, the orb captures facial and eye images, encrypting and storing them on the user’s phone for personal control. After scanning, users can connect their World ID to eligible apps, obtaining a “verified human badge” on Tinder. While Tinder profiles can also be verified via photo or government ID, only those verified with World ID receive five free boosts, available for a limited time.
World has also introduced a World ID app, separate from their previously announced World super app, focusing on “proof of human” verification for various services. Besides Tinder, it integrates ID verification with platforms like Zoom and Docusign.
