
Donald Trump is renowned for his ghostwritten book The Art of the Deal, and many supporters argue that the U.S. president’s conflict with Iran — and his increasingly intense posts on Truth Social — are part of a strategy of “4D chess”.
Jon Stewart is skeptical. In the Daily Show clip above, the host explains how the conflict has progressed, from Trump’s threats to Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
“So that’s where we’ve ended up with The Art of the Deal,” Stewart says. “Basically, it’s a cycle. A cycle of demands, threats, and premature victory declarations that give the negotiator enough flexibility to claim success at almost any point — eventually resulting in a nuclear deal possibly worse than the one Trump withdrew the U.S. from with Iran, leading to a devastating war costing thousands of Iranian lives, 13 American soldiers, damaging our reputation as the leading free world nation, hurting the global economy, and burdening American taxpayers, potentially with trillions!”
