Jon Stewart Responds to White House Correspondents Dinner Chaos

1 Min Read

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner was unexpectedly called off this weekend following an attempted security breach by an armed man, resulting in chaotic scenes as Trump administration officials were evacuated.

“This is why we can’t have nice things,” remarks Jon Stewart on the Daily Show. “Frankly, it’s not even a nice thing. Nobody wanted this dinner in the first place… we’re so messed up in this country that we can’t even manage a dinner that shouldn’t have existed anyway. Let’s celebrate the First Amendment with an administration that’s doing everything to undermine it.”

The host then analyzes the chaotic scenes shot by shot, highlighting a clip of RFK Jr.’s wife Cheryl Hines being left behind after her husband was swiftly moved by security, and compares it to Stephen Miller shielding his own wife.

“See RFK? It turns out that’s an option. You can protect your wife instead of, I don’t know, beating her to the escape pod. And the guy who outshined you is Stephen Miller,” Stewart comments. “Now, for the rest of your life, your wife will ask you the question nobody has ever asked before: ‘Why can’t you be more like Stephen Miller?'”
