A new teaser for “Lanterns” was released on Monday, offering a fresh take on the Green Lantern universe. Created by Chris Mundy, Tom King, and Damon Lindelof, this HBO series is one of the most anticipated TV shows this summer. Aaron Pierre stars as John Stewart, a new recruit of the Lantern Corps, who teams up with seasoned Lantern Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler, to solve a mysterious murder in Nebraska. This time, the Green Lanterns are grounded on Earth but still wield the powerful rings, described by Hal as “the greatest weapon in the universe,” and their iconic green light.
The series features a large cast, including Kelly Macdonald, Nathan Fillion, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Ulrich Thomsen, Nicole Ari Parker, Jason Ritter, Sherman Augustus, Chris Coy, Paul Ben-Victor, J. Alphonse Nicholson, Cary Christopher, and Jasmine Cephas Jones.
“Lanterns” is set to premiere this August on HBO and HBO Max.
