The battle of foldable phones is intensifying. Apple’s first foldable iPhone, unofficially called the iPhone Fold, is expected to launch in September. Recent leaks reveal potential differences from the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup. While Apple enters the foldable market late, its history with late entries like the iPod and iPhone suggests it could still dominate. Leaked images of the iPhone Fold show distinctive features setting it apart. In contrast, Samsung may launch the Galaxy Z Fold Wide with dimensions resembling the iPhone Fold. Apple’s iPhone Fold sports a wider design than most foldables. Its design incorporates rounded edges, unlike the sharper corners seen on the Z Fold 8. When unfolded, both phones are expected to be ultra-thin, under 5 mm, similar to the Z Fold 7. Other differences include button placements and camera configurations. The iPhone Fold is anticipated to have two rear cameras, while the Z Fold 8 may feature three. Apple’s device might fit pockets more easily, positioning it between flip-style and tablet-style foldables. Upcoming releases are largely based on leaks and rumors, yet a launch schedule sees the iPhone Fold debut in 2026 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 in July.
