Logitech’s Approach: Adding Extra USB Ports to iPad Keyboard Cases Should Be Standard

1 Min Read

Logitech’s Rugged Combo 4C Keyboard offers valuable enhancements extending beyond student use. Featuring a new addition to its rugged iPad Combo 4 keyboard case, Logitech addresses a persistent tablet issue, aiding in Apple’s push for the iPad as a laptop alternative. The Rugged Combo 4c and 4c Touch cases, designed for the 10th and 11th-gen iPads, incorporate a second USB-C port for accessories like wired mice, headphones, and external drives, even when charging. Logitech’s approach should set a standard for all iPad keyboard case manufacturers.

The new 4c versions, continuing the legacy of the original Combo 4 introduced a few years back, target educational institutions and are sold through authorized distributors. However, previous models, priced between $140 and $150, have surfaced on Amazon through resellers.

Carried forward features include a spill-resistant, easy-to-clean sealed keyboard, 6.6-foot drop protection, and use of the iPad’s Smart Connector, eliminating the need for separate power sources for the keyboard. The 4c Touch variant includes a multitouch trackpad for enhanced scrolling, zooming, and multitasking. An updated design facilitates magnetic Apple Pencil attachment and includes a latch to secure the stylus during transit.
