The era of ultra-high performance Mercedes EVs has arrived with the reveal of the AMG GT 4-door coupe. This new super sedan is equipped with advanced technology from Mercedes’ recent XX concept, which achieved a remarkable feat by driving 24,901 miles in under 8 days at Nardò Ring in Italy.

Mercedes has redesigned its motors and batteries for the production model, aiming to create a vehicle that can compete with hypercars. The AMG GT incorporates three axial flux motors developed by Mercedes subsidiary YASA, offering up to 1,153 horsepower and 1,475 lb-ft of torque. These motors feature a thin disc shape, making them lighter than traditional radial motors while providing significant power.

The high-performance battery uses slim cylindrical cells, just 1 inch in diameter, for efficient heat dissipation. Mercedes also developed a unique, non-conductive oil that cools the individual cells. This system, inspired by Formula 1, offers 20 kW of cooling, quadrupling the cooling capacity of a standard EQS battery, allowing repeated drag races without overheating.

Built on an 800-volt architecture, the AMG GT allows ultra-fast charging up to 600 kW. Its cooling system enables charging from 10 to 80 percent in just 11 minutes. The EV can switch between 800V and 400V and supports five global DC charging standards, including NACS and CCS2.

The AMG GT 4-door coupe combines high performance with technology to appeal to racing fans. It includes over 1,600 sound files to simulate engine sounds and other auditory experiences. The vehicle also features a centralized computing system called AMG Race Engineer Core with the new MB.OS operating system, managing all aspects of the car.

Inside, the car boasts three screens under a continuous glass surface: a 10.2-inch driver display, a 14-inch central screen, and a 14-inch passenger display, all powered by MB.OS. Owners can monitor metrics like aero, heat, and energy usage in real-time.

Mercedes has not yet disclosed official pricing, but the GT 55 version is set for release in late 2026, followed by the GT 63 in early 2027.
