This year, the Surface Pro and Laptop are set to receive upgraded haptics and options for Intel or Qualcomm chips.
Microsoft is planning to introduce new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop models soon. According to Windows Central, these updated models will include both Intel and Qualcomm versions, with an OLED display option for the Surface Laptop.
The new Surface Pro and Laptop models will initially feature Intel’s Core Ultra 3 chips, followed later by Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 variants due to chip supply shortages. This marks a change from Microsoft’s recent trend of releasing Qualcomm-powered models first.
Despite a recent RAM crisis affecting prices, the new models are expected to start at 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, maintaining their status as premium devices rather than competing with lower-cost alternatives.
OLED displays will be reserved for high-end Surface Laptop models, with entry-level versions using IPS panels. Some models will boast higher resolution screens.
The haptics system is also being enhanced, aligning with recent Windows 11 updates. Users will experience haptic feedback with compatible devices during various actions, such as object alignment in PowerPoint and window resizing, as per Microsoft’s announcement.
Typically, Microsoft unveils refreshed Surface models around May or June, so further details are expected soon.
