Nintendo is Increasing the Price of the Switch 2 — Where to Buy Before the Hike

1 Min Read

Nintendo has announced a $50 price increase for the Switch 2 due to challenging business conditions and the global economic outlook. This comes despite last year’s high demand and the success of the Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The increased price will take effect in the U.S. by September, and later this month in Japan. To avoid the surcharge, customers can buy the console now at the original price of $449.99. Retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, Walmart, and the My Nintendo Store are offering the console at its current price, with some offering bundles and trade-in options.

Despite the price hike, the Nintendo Switch 2 offers backwards compatibility with most original Switch games, though performance may vary depending on specific titles. The console comes with a dock, allowing it to function as both a home console and a handheld device.
