OpenAI has announced a restructuring that appoints Greg Brockman as the leader of product, aligning with a strategy to focus on AI agents by consolidating existing products into a unified platform. This change involves merging ChatGPT and Codex to form a single integrated agentic experience. Organizational adjustments include maintaining some existing leadership roles, as established when AGI head Fidji Simo took medical leave. Under Brockman’s leadership, four pillars are formed: core product and platform led by Thibault Sottiaux, critical enterprise industries led by Nick Turley, consumer-focused areas like health and commerce led by Ashley Alexander, and core infrastructure and data science led by Vijaye Raji. This shift aligns with OpenAI’s strategic move to streamline operations by focusing on core revenue areas and preparing for a possible IPO while aiming to enhance value through scaling AI agents.
