OpenAI has introduced GPT-5.5, which boasts low latency and reduced hallucinations. Announced in a blog post, GPT-5.5 Instant is the new default model for ChatGPT users, succeeding GPT 5.3 Instant, which remains available for three more months to paid users. Unlike other advanced models like Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.7 that are only accessible to paying customers, GPT-5.5 Instant is available to everyone, offering better everyday interactions with more accurate responses and improved context use. In testing, it produced 52.5% fewer hallucinated claims in key areas such as law, finance, and medicine compared to its predecessor. It is also more adept at web searches and analyzing image uploads, promising concise and contextually relevant answers without unwarranted mentions of goblins.
