The Trump administration unveiled a new website on Friday featuring a collection of “new, never-before-seen” UFO files, according to the Pentagon. The website URL is war.gov/ufo.
The Department of War announced that the site will host unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) videos, photos, and documents from across the U.S. government. Although reviewed for security, many files have not been analyzed for anomaly resolution, the Department stated.
The collection will expand as more files are released over time.
This release follows a 2017 story by The New York Times and others about the classified Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) investigating military encounters with unknown objects.
Interest in UAPs has risen, particularly after the 2024 U.S. drone sightings. The changing skies, with SpaceX launches and satellites, complicate distinguishing the unexplained, which is why military intelligence-backed files are noteworthy.
The discovery of the Pentagon program has also influenced pop culture, inspiring films like “Jules,” “Bugonia,” and Steven Spielberg’s upcoming “Disclosure Day.”
While UFO file releases would once be major news, today’s Americans are more focused on issues like the Iran war’s impact on gas prices, AI-related job losses, healthcare, and climate change.
The file release results from the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE), involving the White House, ODNI, DOE, AARO, NASA, FBI, and other agencies.
Earlier, the independent news site 404 Media noticed the Executive Office of the President registered the domain aliens.gov, though it is not currently active.
