You must verify your age by June to maintain access to PlayStation social features. Sony is aligning with the UK Online Safety Act to inform PS4 and PS5 players in the UK and Ireland of mandatory age verification. From June, without age verification, access to voice chats, messaging, parties, and third-party communication services will be restricted. Sony’s support note warns that while you can still play games, some features will be unavailable without verification, including broadcasting and sharing gameplay on YouTube or Twitch. The company is using Yoti for age verification, offering mobile number, face scan, or ID options. This aligns with Microsoft’s Xbox age verification, which uses Yoti in the UK, requiring players to be 18 or older for full social access. Sony encourages early verification to prevent loss of features as the Online Safety Act’s further provisions are implemented.
