Porsche Introduces All-Electric Cayenne Coupe to Lineup

2 Min Read

Porsche plans to release an all-electric Cayenne coupe in late summer, highlighting growing demand for EVs. The Cayenne Coupe Electric, featuring four doors like a traditional coupe, will be available alongside other electric versions like the Cayenne Electric, Cayenne S Electric, and Cayenne Turbo Electric. The gas version of the Cayenne coupe has quickly become a best-seller, representing 40% of Cayenne sales and up to 90% in particular markets.

This all-electric version might be a promising venture despite its high cost. Unlike the Porsche Macan, which will transition to solely electric models, the Cayenne Coupe Electric will be sold alongside its gas and hybrid alternatives until at least 2030.

The market data from this period could provide valuable insights into customer preferences among the Cayenne lineup and whether this new electric model becomes the most favored option. Factors like the additional front trunk space and fluctuating gas prices may sway decisions.

The Cayenne Electric, along with its S and Turbo counterparts, is set to launch worldwide later this year, nine months post its unveiling. The Cayenne Coupe Electric will debut in three variants: the base, S coupe, and turbo coupe. Prices start at $113,800, with delivery fees additional, and can rise to $168,000 for the Turbo model. Buyers can further customize with options like the lightweight sport package featuring a carbon roof and advanced tires.

All coupe EV versions will feature a powerful crossover body with an 800-volt powertrain, air suspension, and a shared roof design with a new windshield and adaptive rear spoiler. The Cayenne Coupe Electric will include the North American Charging Standard port and an extra AC charging port, made popular by Tesla.

Specifications differ by model, with the base coupe EV producing up to 435 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque. It has a top speed of 143 mph and can reach 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. The Turbo variant, boasting 1,139 horsepower and 1,106 pound-feet of torque, matches performance levels of the Tesla Model S Plaid and Lucid Air Sapphire, hitting a top speed of 162 mph and 0-60 mph in just 2.4 seconds.

EPA range estimates for these EVs are pending, but early testing suggests a range of 360 miles. Larger tires, which increase rolling resistance, could reduce the range by about 10%.
