Spotify announced on Thursday that its AI DJ feature now supports four new languages: French, German, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese. Prior to this, the feature, which allows users to interact for song requests and receive AI-driven commentary, was only offered in English and Spanish.
The AI DJs are tailored to each language with unique names and personalities: Maia, Ben, Alex, and Dani.
In addition to the new language support, Spotify is introducing the feature to several countries including Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, South Korea, and Switzerland. The AI DJ service is now accessible in over 75 countries.
Initially, Spotify’s AI DJ provided commentary on songs while playing user-preferred tracks. However, enhancements over recent years have made it more interactive. In May 2025, Spotify updated it to allow users to engage in conversations and make requests to adjust the mood or genre. Additionally, users can prompt the AI DJ to play specific tracks, functioning similarly to models like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini.
Spotify has also been integrating more AI capabilities into its platform, such as enabling users to create personalized playlists of songs or podcasts by describing their listening preferences.
