Want to get a glimpse of Fitbit’s new Whoop-like screenless fitness tracker? Tune into Golden State Warriors games, or follow Warriors star and NBA legend Steph Curry’s Instagram. Curry recently featured the new fitness tracker in a Google-sponsored Instagram post, as Google owns Fitbit. The post shows Curry with the tracker and includes the caption, “#sponsored I won’t spoil it. You kinda have to see it for yourself 👀”
As noted by Droid Life, Curry has been spotted with the mysterious wrist-worn tracker in public for several months. On April 15, photographers captured Curry with it before a game against the LA Clippers at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, revealing a clear view of the grey-and-orange fitness tracker.
Curry’s teaser has yet to be officially announced, but it’s known as a screenless fitness tracker from Google.
Bloomberg reported on March 31 about Google’s development of this screen-free fitness band for Fitbit, mentioning Curry’s involvement. The report also indicated that the device would come with a paid subscription for added features, including an “AI-powered Fitbit personal health coach” in the app.
This device is reminiscent of the popular Whoop fitness tracker, which Mashable has extensively tested. Differing from devices like the Google Pixel Watch 4 or a conventional Fitbit, this one lacks a screen, promoting less distraction and boasting longer battery life, ideal for sleep tracking. This mysterious Fitbit device appears slightly thinner than Whoop’s version.
Bloomberg didn’t specify a launch date beyond “later this year,” but given Curry’s frequent public appearances with the device, an early release seems likely.
