Tesla is recalling all 173 RWD Cybertrucks sold due to a brake rotor defect that could cause the wheels to detach, as identified by MotorTrend. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the brake rotor stud holes might crack, leading to the stud separating from the wheel hub. This affects the $70,000 Cybertrucks with 18-inch steel wheels. Tesla reported three warranty claims potentially related to this but has no reports of crashes, injuries, or fatalities. This is the 11th recall for the Cybertruck, which has also seen issues with the accelerator, trim, inverter, reverse cameras, and even font size. The RWD model, released last April, was discontinued a few months later, followed by a $60,000 dual-motor AWD variant, unaffected by this recall. Tesla stated that severe road conditions and cornering could stress the stud hole, leading to cracks and potential separation of the wheel stud from the hub. Tesla will replace the brake components at no cost.
