Starting Friday, reservations for purchasing a Steam Controller can be made.
Valveās new Steam Controller quickly sold out when it went on sale on Monday. To accommodate those who missed out, Valve will open a “reservations queue” on Friday at 1 PM ET.
During the initial sales, many buyers faced checkout issues, and some sellers listed the controllers at prices higher than the $99 retail price. Valve acknowledged the high interest while admitting to a frustrating buying experience and aims to improve the purchase process and limit reseller activity.
Once reservations open, your spot will be secured in the queue, and you will receive an order email when stock becomes available. You will have 72 hours to complete the purchase, limited to one controller. A Steam account in good standing with a purchase record before April 27th is required. Those who already bought a Steam Controller cannot reserve another for now.
Valve expects to begin fulfilling reservations in the US and Canada next week, with the UK, EU, and Australia to follow. There is no firm date set for Steam Machine and Steam Frame sales, but 50 tons of game consoles were recently imported. Valve previously used a reservation system for the Steam Deck, which faced a lengthy queue clearance.
