The anticipated launch for Sony’s 10th anniversary headphones is set for tomorrow, sporting a price tag of $649 in the US. These new headphones, the Sony 1000X “The ColleXion” Edition, have been leaked in image renders by OnLeaks and HotEUDeals, showcasing thicker leatherette padding and larger earcups compared to the current WH-1000XM6 series. The “ColleXion” name had appeared briefly on Sony’s websites in April, revealing an over-ear model number “WH-1000XX”. The leaked images now reveal the full design and its accessories, confirming a May 19th launch date and pricing. The headphones will be available in black or white, with premium design elements like color-matched metallic yokes, distinct buttons, and redesigned microphone grilles with larger holes. According to the marketing slides, users can expect 24 hours of battery life, extending to 32 hours with ANC off. The noise cancellation is supported by a V3 co-processor and the regularly used QN3 processor. Sony has collaborated with Battery Studios, Sterling Sound, and Coast Mastering to fine-tune the audio drivers. The launch includes a handbag-style carry case with a USB-C cable for charging and a 3.5mm cable for wired use, deviating from Sony’s typical designs.
