Starlink has increased prices for its satellite internet services in the US. The 100Mbps Residential plan now costs $55 per month, up from $50, while the 200Mbps plan increased to $85 from $80, and the Residential Max plan rose to $130 from $120. Standby Mode, allowing subscribers to pause main service but access unlimited low-speed data, now costs $10 per month instead of $5. Roam plans also saw increases, with the 100GB plan moving to $55 per month from $50 and the Unlimited plan to $175 from $165. The 300GB Roam plan remains at $80 per month. Starlink is seen as a valuable option for rural US areas with limited internet, but there’s concern over potential competition reduction. SpaceX’s letter to the FCC suggests eliminating $4.5 billion in rural internet subsidies, stating satellite internet has resolved broadband access issues. In communications to customers, Starlink cites service improvements and expanding capability as reasons for the price hikes. Last year, a 12-month residential plan allowed a $0 cost for dish and router in selected areas.
