Apple iPhones continue to gain popularity, even as they lag behind in certain aspects. iOS 27 is expected to be unveiled at WWDC 2026 in June, featuring AI photo editing tools. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that the new OS will introduce AI photo-editing capabilities to iPhones and MacBooks with macOS 27. Currently, Apple offers an AI-assisted “Clean Up” tool, but iOS 27 will expand these options. New tools like Extend, Enhance, and Reframe will allow on-device AI processing through Apple Intelligence, enhancing user privacy.
Under departing CEO Tim Cook, Apple has achieved record iPhone sales, despite lagging behind Android in AI features. Google Pixel, Motorola, and Samsung Galaxy phones already boast extensive AI photo editing tools, allowing users to manipulate images with ease. Apple’s partnership with Gemini will improve AI Siri, and ChatGPT models will support Apple Intelligence features. If Gurman’s reports are accurate, Apple will finally offer standard AI photo editing tools available to Android users. The WWDC event on June 8 will reveal more.
