Einride is integrating 75 electric heavy-duty trucks into Amazon’s Relay freight network, marking a significant partnership with the e-commerce giant. This agreement will also see Einride installing charging infrastructure at five locations in the United States. The trucks will be owned and managed by Einride, employing its Saga AI software, while being available for drivers in Amazon’s Relay network, an app launched in 2017 for booking hauling jobs.

Einride CEO Roozbeh Charli highlighted the collaboration as a significant endorsement of their technology and strategic direction. He stated that partnering with Amazon accelerates their growth and enhances their operational expertise.

Known for its dual approach to freight, Einride operates around 200 electric trucks globally for companies like Heineken and PepsiCo and is also recognized for its autonomous, cab-less trucks. However, the Amazon agreement excludes these autonomous pods.

This deal coincides with Einride’s near-future plans to go public following a merger with Legato Merger Corp. While not as pivotal for Amazon, with its $2.7 trillion market cap, the partnership aids Amazon’s environmental goals to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

An Amazon spokesperson expressed that this initiative is crucial in their efforts to decarbonize their transportation network by electrifying heavy-duty trucking. They are eager to continue the collaboration with Einride as the trucks become operational.
