Apple TV has recently launched one of its most lauded series of the year, “Margo’s Got Money Troubles,” and is set to unveil another new comedy that’s also receiving high praise—along with more to follow.
### Margo’s Got Money Troubles and Widow’s Bay Present Two Distinct, Cherished Comedy Series
Beginning this week, Apple TV will showcase two premier new comedy series airing fresh episodes every Wednesday (technically on Tuesday night at 9:00 p.m. ET).
“Margo’s Got Money Troubles” debuted earlier this month to substantial critical acclaim. The series, adapted from Rufi Thorpe’s popular novel, boasts a remarkable 96% Rotten Tomatoes score based on over 50 critic reviews. Elle Fanning stars alongside Michelle Pfeiffer, Nick Offerman, Nicole Kidman, and others. Four episodes are currently available, with new releases continuing weekly until May 20.
This week, Apple introduces another highly praised, yet distinct comedy series. “Widow’s Bay” is set to premiere this Wednesday, April 29, with two initial episodes, followed by weekly releases through June 17. The intriguingly twisted, genre-blending show merges elements of comedy, horror, thriller, and character-driven drama. Critics have enthusiastically noted its effectiveness, with “Widow’s Bay” currently achieving a flawless 100% Rotten Tomatoes score from 15 reviews. Matthew Rhys leads the cast, which comes from creator Katie Dippold (Parks and Recreation). Rhys portrays the mayor of a small New England town that may be under a curse.
### Upcoming and Returning Apple TV Comedies on the Horizon
Looking past Apple’s present lineup, there are several forthcoming premieres for new and returning comedies on the way. “Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed” is set to arrive on May 20 as a dark comedy-thriller featuring Tatiana Maslany (‘Orphan Black’) and Jake Johnson (‘New Girl’). The latest trailer emphasizes the thriller aspects while maintaining an overall comedic tone.
Looking even further ahead, “Ted Lasso” will be making its return this summer for season 4. Apple has not yet revealed a specific release date, but star Hannah Waddingham has suggested it will debut in August. Additionally, a new film titled “The Dink” will premiere in July, featuring a pickleball comedy with Jake Johnson, Mary Steenburgen, and Ed Harris.
Apple TV is offered at $12.99 per month, or you can access it at a lower rate through the Apple One bundle.
