Anthropic is contributing significant funds to the Blender Foundation to ensure the software remains free and open-source.
Anthropic has launched connectors for Claude, which allow the AI chatbot to integrate with creative software like Adobe Creative Cloud, Affinity, Blender, Ableton, Autodesk, and others. This is part of their strategy to enter the creative industry, following the release of Claude Design earlier this month. The connectors enable Claude to interact with apps, retrieve data, and perform tasks within connected services, enhancing creative work. Each connector serves specific functions in its respective app.
For instance, the Adobe connector utilizes Creative Cloud apps such as Photoshop and Premiere to enhance visual projects in Claude. The Ableton connector sources information from the music software’s documentation, while the Blender integration allows for natural-language interaction with its Python API. Further details on each connector are available on Anthropic’s blog.
According to Anthropic, Claude can’t replace creativity but can facilitate faster ideation, broaden skillsets, and assist with larger projects. AI can also automate repetitive tasks, saving time during the creative process.
In addition, Anthropic has joined as a Corporate Patron of the Blender Development Fund, supporting the open-source software’s growth alongside other major sponsors like Netflix, Epic, and Wacom. Anthropic’s membership will provide Blender with at least €240,000 (approximately $281,000) annually, aiding in independent project development and the creation of tools for artists and creators.
