Consumer Reports Evaluates Just One Phone Carrier with Poor Cellular Reception

Consumer Reports revealed that the company received the lowest rating for cellular reception compared to all other providers. The survey comprised 123,670 entries, identifying Optimum as the least favorable carrier overall. This title was previously held by AT&T.

In the detailed assessment, Optimum performed poorly in all categories. The ratings for value and data mirrored that of reception, which is somewhat peculiar, as Optimum utilizes T-Mobile’s network for its services. For comparison, T-Mobile enjoys a better rating in cellular reception and is ranked higher overall than Optimum. According to Optimum’s website and Navi, an independent coverage monitoring service, signal strength in major areas is adequate. There isn’t a straightforward reason for this, aside from the significant traffic on the network, with nearly 60 different carriers using T-Mobile’s infrastructure across the United States.

<p Nonetheless, feedback from consumer review platforms like TrustPilot and forums such as Reddit appears to substantiate its ranking. On TrustPilot, all leading network providers have received poor ratings, with Optimum closely aligning with Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile. Similar criticisms have been directed at its internet service, with some alleging that it ranks among the worst internet providers in the U.S.
