Google Launches Redesigned Workspace App Icons

1 Min Read

The Google Workspace app icons are undergoing a redesign with soft color gradients, rounded corners, and revamped icon shapes. Leaked last month and now widely available, these redesigned icons feature gradients transitioning from lighter to darker shades rather than a consistent flat tone, similar to the updated Google logo introduced a year ago. Some icons have shifted from a rainbow design to a single color, such as Google Chat, Meet, and Calendar, enhancing their distinction. However, icons like Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides retain their original colors and style. Notably, the icons for Sheets and Slides have been adjusted to landscape mode, aligning with common usage. The Google Drive icon has been significantly updated with rounded corners and the removal of the red spot in the bottom right corner. Additionally, some icons, like Google Keep, have shed their borders, resulting in a simpler design. The Gmail icon appears cleaner but remains largely unchanged. These updates precede the start of Google I/O, where more visual updates to Google’s ecosystem might be announced.
