Google, Microsoft, and Elon Musk’s xAI are set to provide the Trump administration with early access to their unreleased AI models. This agreement comes shortly after reports emerged of the administration exploring government oversight of new AI technologies. The companies will work with the Commerce Department’s Center for AI Standards and Innovation (CAISI) to assess the capabilities and security of these models. CAISI has already evaluated over 40 AI models and continues to expand industry collaborations critical for public interest and national security. These developments follow tensions between the Trump administration and AI firm Anthropic regarding the use of AI in warfare and surveillance.
