Microsoft Provides Xbox Employees with Xbox Email Addresses

Microsoft’s gaming employees are experiencing another shift as part of the ‘We are Xbox’ initiative. Recently, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma emphasized the message “We are Xbox,” following the decision to rename Microsoft’s gaming division from Microsoft Gaming to Xbox. To further this identity, Xbox sources report that all employees will receive an @xbox.com email address next month. These new addresses will replace existing @microsoft.com ones for new emails, though employees can retain their Microsoft address as the default if preferred. Mojang staff will also receive @mojang.com addresses, but both Xbox and Mojang personnel will maintain their @microsoft.com aliases.

This change aims to “strengthen the Xbox identity inside and outside of Microsoft,” according to an internal memo seen by The Verge. While minor, the move aligns the broader Xbox team’s email appearance with Activision and Bethesda employees, who retain their domain names. Previously, select Xbox staff could request @xbox.com emails from IT, but this marks the first active rollout to all gaming employees.

These email updates are part of the renewed “We are Xbox” initiative. In a recent memo with Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty, the duo outlined Xbox’s future, focusing on daily active players and priorities like hardware, content, experience, and services.
