Teenage Engineering’s KO Sidekick is a Mixer with Fun Performance Effects

1 Min Read

Teenage Engineering’s new EP-136 KO Sidekick is a sleek two-channel mixer designed to connect two KO-II samplers for live performances and DJ sets. It supports any two audio sources, not just TE equipment. Previously leaked, what wasn’t revealed is its capability as an effects processor, applying TE’s punch-in effects to any instrument. The mixer offers two stereo ins, switchable to four mono inputs with adapters, and supports two stereo channels over USB-C for controlling DJ apps. It features a three-band EQ and built-in compressor. With a high-res color LCD screen, the Sidekick includes six channel effects: DJ filter, tremolo, delay, tape, loop, and siren, adjustable via mod stick or pressure-sensitive pad. Effects can be automated to evolve over time. The Sidekick matches the BPM of incoming audio to keep rhythmic effects synchronized, allowing effects to run in series or parallel. The EP-136 KO Sidekick is available for $179.
