What we’re hearing about the new homepage

2 Min Read

We have reviewed all feedback on the new homepage, both positive and negative, and we appreciate your input. Many have shared detailed thoughts, which helps us categorize the feedback into three buckets:

1. **Bucket 1: Yes, we should fix that.** Feedback indicating bugs and rough edges needing correction.

– Feedback in this bucket includes:
– Scrollbar issues on the feed (✅ Fixed)
– Adding “Read More” for story groups (✅ Fixed)
– Adding more category reading options at the page’s bottom (✅ Fixed)

2. **Bucket 2: This is worth investigating.** Feedback pointing to potential improvements or adjustments.

– Feedback in this bucket includes:
– The presentation and engagement of the Latest feed, especially for fans of the revchron feed.
– An ongoing development of dark mode.
– Dates on curated story sets, removed to bring older stories to the forefront, acknowledging the frustration caused by this choice.
– A recurring request for marking stories as read, indicating the need for a personalized homepage experience.

3. **Bucket 3: Not right now.** Feedback on ideas not planned currently due to available resources.

– Feedback in this bucket includes:
– Free-to-Read and Subscriber Perks sections, now deprecated but open for future reconsideration.
– Page structure, where opinions vary; we need time to assess this mixed feedback.

Our small team carefully balances these suggestions against time, resources, and the long-term vision for The Verge. We invite your ongoing feedback, appreciated through the following channels:
