Google has fully embraced AI, rolling out new features at this year’s Google I/O conference that are expected to impact users of its many products. Among these announcements, video creators have reasons to be excited as the platform unveils upgrades to YouTube, particularly for its Shorts feature.

Google’s AI model ‘Gemini Omni’ introduces multifaceted capabilities, allowing creation from any output. The addition of Gemini Omni to YouTube Shorts Remix enables users to remix Shorts using advanced AI tools. These AI-enhanced Shorts will include an AI-content label and links to the original materials. Furthermore, YouTube expands its likeness detection tool to creators aged 18 and older.

Another notable update is ‘Ask YouTube,’ which will offer a conversational search experience on Google and YouTube. This seamless feature will integrate YouTube videos into search results, redefining the search experience by providing videos as relevant responses to complex queries.

The ‘Ask YouTube’ functionality is currently in testing and will launch across the U.S. this summer.
