More than $117 million has been allocated following a 2023 Xfinity data breach.

Comcast settles a class action lawsuit due to a 2023 data breach that exposed substantial amounts of customer information.

Certain Xfinity customers are now eligible to receive their portion of a $117.5 million class action lawsuit settled by Comcast. Between October 16 and October 19, 2023, a third party accessed personally identifiable information of over 35.8 million Xfinity customers, including usernames, passwords, contact information, and in some cases, partial social security numbers. Multiple lawsuits were combined into a class action case in 2024, asserting that Comcast “failed to properly protect personal information” and had “inadequate data security,” leading to the cyberattack.

The company formally settled the lawsuit in April, and a final approval hearing is scheduled for July 7.

Affected Xfinity customers were informed through email on December 18, 2023. Those who received this email are eligible to file a claim. Kroll Settlement Administration LLC, the approved claims administrator, sent additional emails including reference numbers required for the submission of claims on the official settlement page. For verification, one can call the settlement customer service line at (833) 319-2401.

Settlement members have until September 14 to submit a claim online or by mail. Individuals may receive a $50 fixed payout or request reimbursement for documented losses and expenses up to $10,000. Members have until July 1 to exclude themselves or object to the settlement.
