Roman Teslyuk, founder and CEO of Earth AI, is frustrated with data delays affecting their mineral exploration efforts. Earth AI has been searching for minerals like copper and platinum in underexplored parts of Australia. Their AI models identified promising locations, but the process of finding the richest deposits is too slow due to holdups in lab testing.
“Since we ramped up drilling, delays grew,” Teslyuk noted, with lab backlogs now exceeding five months instead of the typical two. Earth AI plans to set up its own labs to cut the wait time to five days, aiming to streamline and maximize data collection. Their models help identify potential mines, but drilling confirms mineral presence and distribution. While Earth AI will still employ third-party labs for final validation, having their own facilities can significantly cut costs and improve model precision by delivering quick results.
“If answers take five months, the next drill sites aren’t optimal,” Teslyuk remarked. Faster data would help them make informed decisions and efficiently target future drilling locations.
