The new ‘Clips’ tab shows Netflix clips.
Netflix is rolling out a major update to its mobile app, introducing a vertical video feed called “Clips” for browsing videos of shows, movies, and more. The Clips feed aims to help users discover new content in a mobile-friendly manner. Netflix began testing a vertical video format last year, noting its familiarity from social media apps. The feature will start launching on Thursday in several countries, including the US and UK.
The app now features four bottom navigation tabs: Home, Clips, Search, and My Netflix. The Clips tab offers videos akin to TikTok or Instagram Reels, complete with share options and watchlist additions. Initially, Clips will highlight shows and movies, but Netflix will later include content from podcasts and live events. There’s also a plan to introduce a Collections tab with clips sorted by themes such as comedy or reality TV.
Changes are coming to the Home tab as well, with Netflix’s New & Hot section moving to a top category on the Home screen. Netflix’s chief product and technology officer, Elizabeth Stone, emphasizes the goal of a personalized, engaging mobile experience, signaling that this update is just the beginning.
