Rolling Square’s innovative metal plates allow you to magnetically attach a phone or tablet.
In a dull ocean of inexpensive and uninspired phone and tablet mounts, the Rolling Square Edge Pro Core stands out like a refreshing gust of wind. This modular device works with MagSafe and magnetic Qi2 devices, and you receive a complimentary adapter ring with the kit.
The concept is straightforward: affix a magnetic plate to your monitor or display, then add components as needed. You can attach a phone mount, a tablet mount, a magnetic light, or even a magnetic wireless charger to the plate. Anything magnetic can be used.
You are beginning to understand why I frequently refer to the Rolling Square Edge Pro Core as one of the premier MagSafe, Pixelsnap, and Qi2 accessories.
Installation is not a hassle; you can figure it out in just a few minutes.
Setting up the Rolling Square Edge Pro Core may seem daunting in your mind, but it’s actually quite simple. Rolling Square’s instructional setup video excellently explains the contents of the box, how to use each item, and the basic steps for setup. The instructions also guide you on how to remove the adhesive.
Installation is as easy as pie. You position your phone next to the screen where you want it mounted. Memorize that spot or mark it with something temporary like a whiteboard marker. If it helps, flip the screen around and mark that spot on the back as well, just to recall your preferred placement.
I broke the rules for aesthetics, but please don’t emulate my actions. You are meant to clean the back of the display or monitor and apply the base metal plate to the bare surface.
I couldn’t bring myself to ruin my meticulously curated yet chaotic laptop, which is covered in stickers like nothing else. So, I simply placed the base on top of the stickers. As shown in the pictures below, Tanjiro Kamado came through unscathed.
Despite my obvious rule-breaking, the Edge Pro Core still supports my Pixel 10 Pro perfectly. The adhesive base did not come unstuck or sag, and it kept the mounting plate securely in place. It’s genuinely impressive to witness a magnetic mount attach to this slim disc. The base plate that adheres to the monitor or screen is only 2.5mm thick. How can it be so sturdy?
Even after attaching the mounting plate with its hinge and dual sides, it hardly adds any weight or bulk to your screen. I adore the book-like hinge mechanism that can be adjusted easily, so the angle of your phone or tablet is always optimal.
This is the ideal way to utilize your phone or tablet as a second screen.
Naturally, the most appealing feature of the Rolling Square Edge Pro Core is its mere 2.5mm (0.1 in) thickness. But the advantages don’t stop there. You can use the mounting plate with the hinge by itself as a standalone phone stand. Most importantly, Rolling Square has developed a customizable ecosystem that’s not restricted to first-party accessories. I commend them for this!
You can attach any MagSafe light to the magnetic mount. Several other wireless chargers, besides those specifically made for the Edge Pro Core, can also function with it. As long as it’s magnetic, it will securely attach to the Edge Pro Core mount.
And since the base plate and mount together remain relatively slim, you can simply leave it attached. I didn’t even bother removing it when taking my laptop outdoors. In fact, I just let it stay on the back of my laptop and placed the entire setup in my backpack without any noticeable increase in weight or bulk.
At $29.90 for the base Rolling Square Edge Pro Core kit, I highly recommend this ready-to-use mounting solution. It’s worth every penny.
