A hint of shortbread in the air and snippets of folksy wisdom can only mean one thing: “Ted Lasso” is nearly back. Apple TV’s Emmy-winning comedy returns for a fourth season this August, with Ted (Jason Sudeikis) back in Richmond after his Season 3 departure. This time, he will coach a second division women’s football team, a development first hinted at in the Season 3 finale when Keeley (Juno Temple) proposed the idea to Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham).

The Season 4 teaser showcases the women’s team in action, from tryouts to high-stakes games, and introduces new characters, including Tanya Reynolds from “Sex Education” as an assistant coach and Tracey Ullman in an undisclosed role. Additional new cast members are Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely.

Returning favorites Sudeikis, Waddingham, and Temple are joined by Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift. The teaser also hints at intriguing developments for the ensemble. Rebecca shares a moment with Matthijs (Matteo van der Grijn), while Roy and Keeley have charged encounters, leaving audiences wondering about their potential reunion. Await answers in August.

“Ted Lasso” Season 4 starts Aug. 5 on Apple TV.
