After 11 years, The Late Show concluded with a musical finale. Stephen Colbert emerged from a massive late night-destroying wormhole to perform “Jump Up” with Louis Cato, Jon Batiste, and Elvis Costello before Paul McCartney joined for The Beatles’ “Hello, Goodbye.” As the performance wrapped, Colbert’s family and show staff joined on stage, followed by a scene with Colbert and McCartney preparing to pull a large “Late Show” lever. The building’s lights shut off, the Ed Sullivan Theater was reduced to a small snow globe, and Colbert’s dog Benny made a final appearance. “Come on Benny, let’s go,” Colbert said off camera, before fading to black. If you haven’t seen Colbert’s final Late Show monologue yet, catch up on Mashable.
