DJI Unveils Dual-Lens Osmo Pocket 4P Cinematic Camera at Cannes

The Chinese company has unveiled its newest gimbal camera. The prestigious Cannes Film Festival in France has attracted many high-profile stars, especially from “The Fast and the Furious” franchise. Amid the glamour, Chinese tech company DJI seized the opportunity to showcase its latest creation — the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P camera. While Cannes might seem like an unconventional venue for a company rooted in drone and camera technology, DJI aims to bridge the gap between content creators and Hollywood productions. Featuring two lenses, the Osmo Pocket 4P stands out from other models in the Osmo Pocket line.

The Osmo Pocket series already enjoys a loyal following among creators, and DJI recently introduced the Osmo Pocket 4. However, the newly unveiled Osmo Pocket 4P is crafted specifically for cinematic ventures, as highlighted in DJI’s announcement to Mashable. “Following the global success of its predecessor, the Osmo Pocket 4P harnesses the burgeoning trend of compact cameras revolutionizing storytelling,” the release notes. “Its showcase at Cannes underscores its capability to shape the future of cinematic vlogging, inspire the next wave of mobile-centric filmmakers, and lead trends in visual storytelling focused on portraits.”

Though gimbal cameras have been employed in Hollywood for years, the Osmo Pocket brought this technology to bloggers, influencers, and a variety of creators. DJI touts the Osmo Pocket 4P’s provision of cinematic-quality HDR video and 10-bit D-Log2 color performance, which supports advanced color grading. While no details about the release date or pricing have been disclosed, a DJI representative indicated that it would be available through the company’s online store and retail partners. Similar to other recent DJI launches, potential U.S. availability might face delays due to FCC-related challenges and the U.S. drone ban.
